- Textile is a traditional Iranian industry that originated from native science and expert knowledge. Qom, being one of the centers of this industry has several textile factories, such as “Iran Merinoos”. Textile industry renovation law however means that large factories are no longer allowed in the heart of the city, resulting in this particular factory being relocated. Consequently, the site of the former factory has been earmarked by Qom municipality for extensive redevelopment targeting ever changing urban needs.
